Vector is a scope application for colorists, DITs and anyone else who needs to know what a signal is actually doing, measured on the full-resolution frames rather than a proxy.
Every traditional scope rather than a trimmed subset, waveforms and parades, vectorscope, histograms and plots, CIE, Sat Over Lum, gamut, skin tone, neutral, false color, 3D color cube, audio and timecode. All of them are widgets you place in your own layouts.
Seven vertical scales — IRE, percentage, 8-bit, 10-bit, PQ nits, HLG nits and millivolts — with luma or chroma-only lanes, 64/940 legal-range lines, and parades in R/G/B, B/G/R, YRGB or YCbCr.
The vectorscope adds 75% and 100% bar targets, round or hexagonal rings, a skin-tone line, IQ lines and Highs/Mids/Lows splitting, in BT.601, BT.709 or BT.2020.
Luma, RGB, hue and saturation histograms, linear or log, with adaptive scaling that keeps a dark frame readable. The channel plot takes any component against any other, and the CIE 1931 xy (or u’v’) diagram draws the spectral locus with overlays from Rec.709 through Rec.2020, DCI-P3 and ACES to custom primaries. The gamut scope paints in-range pixels grey, near-edge pixels orange and out-of-gamut pixels red.
PQ (ST 2084) and HLG scales in nits alongside the BT.1886 SDR curve, with an HDR overlay on the histograms. False color in luma, HDR, saturation, chroma or hue, zebras at 100 IRE and on high saturation, focus peaking, clipping indicators and preview masks for 16:9, 4:3 and 2.39:1.
The skin-tone finder works in HSV or Y’CbCr against a desaturated picture, and the neutral finder can be limited to shadows, midtones or highlights. Color pins mark a sampled reference color on every scope that can place it — source viewer, waveform, vectorscope, CIE plot and 3D cube.
A per-frame error log with pass or fail for luma limits, gamut, black frames and blanking, per-channel and 5.1, 7.1 or quad surround meters with unity at -12, -14 or -20 dBFS, a stereo phase goniometer and seven-segment timecode.
NDI® in and out, and Blackmagic DeckLink in and out. Capture arrives as the 4:2:2 layouts the cards deliver, or NDI’s 10-bit RGBA, or packed RGB/RGBA/BGRA/ARGB/ABGR at 8, 10, 12 or 16 bits.
