Playback Modes

This page covers per-clip playback behaviour. For global play modes (Default / Single Output), see Play Modes Overview.

When enabled, every trigger starts a new instance of the clip. Instances layer on top of each other. This is independent of the Retrigger Mode setting.

Use for: rimshots, repeated stings, audience cues.

Controls what happens when a playing clip is triggered again:

  • Play / Stop (default) — the second press stops the clip; press again to play from the start.
  • Pause / Resume — pause on second press, resume on third. While paused, the clip’s countdown flashes to make the held state obvious.
  • Restart — stop and immediately restart from the beginning.
  • Ignore — second press has no effect.

Set it in Clip Settings → Playback & Audio, or use the Retrigger quick panel in the clip’s right-click context menu.

Older projects using the legacy Stop / Restart behaviour are migrated to Play / Stop automatically.

Each clip has a Playback Speed control (0.10×–2.00×) in Clip Settings → Playback & Audio. Speed takes effect on the next play, pitch follows speed, and the clip’s total running time (TRT) is recalculated so countdowns stay accurate. A small ×1.25-style badge appears on the clip button when speed isn’t 1.00×. Double-click the slider (or press Reset) to return to 1.00×.

A clip can contain one or more loop blocks. Each loop repeats between LOOP IN and LOOP OUT markers until Stop is pressed or a loop exit action fires.

Loops play seamlessly — Callie pre-renders a crossfade across the loop boundary so there’s no click or gap at the turn.

Clicking a clip that is currently looping releases the loop: the clip stops looping and follows its configured loop exit action, rather than retriggering from the top.

See Clip Editor & Markers for loop exit action details.

Skip blocks jump over sections of audio. Use them to remove verses, ads, or dead air without editing the source file.

  • IN / OUT — define the playable region.
  • Jump — target for loop exits and skip blocks.
  • SkipStart / SkipEnd — define a section to skip.

Per-clip fade times prevent clicks and smooth transitions. Set in Clip Settings → Playback & Audio.

In Single Output mode, enable One at a time to stop all playback before each trigger. This gives a traditional radio-cart feel where only one clip plays at a time.
