What is Fetch | Vector

Vector is a video scopes application for Windows, macOS and Linux. It measures NDI® and DeckLink sources and shows each measurement as a scope. You lay them out on a page and read them while you work.

It answers what a signal is really doing: whether the levels are legal, where the highlights are, how the skin tones look.

Vector is one window with one layout. A layout is a set of tiles, each with a scope.

There are 29 scopes, picked from the Type row of the Scope Properties pane.

Every layout gives you five source slots, so a session has five feeds whatever the page shows.

Four layouts ship with Vector:

  • Colorist — six tiles for grading: HML Balance, Preview, 3D Color Cube, Waveform, Vectorscope and CIE Plot.
  • DIT — six tiles for set work: Preview, False Color, Skintone, Neutral, Waveform and Vectorscope.
  • QC — eleven tiles for checking a delivered file: Preview, False Color, Gamut Scope, Waveform, RGB Parade, Flicker Heatmap, Min / Max, Goniometer, Error Log, Vectorscope and Audio Meters.
  • Broadcast — seven tiles for a control room: Preview, Timecode, Surround Meters, Waveform, Vectorscope, Goniometer and Audio Meters.

Vector shares its menus, its saved layouts and its web API with Fetch Laika, the NDI® multiviewer.

Fetch Media Tools | Vector is the name in the title bar, the startup banner and the About window. The installers call it Fetch Vector, on the .msi, the .dmg and the .AppImage. The binary is vector, and --help prints Vector — the colorist’s console.

Built for colorists, DITs, QC operators and broadcast engineers.

  • Colorists and grading assistants — the Colorist layout, for a grade.
  • DITs on set — the DIT layout, for lighting and balancing a camera on set.
  • QC operators — the QC layout, to check a delivered file.
  • Broadcast engineers — the Broadcast layout, for a control room. Capture and output are DeckLink and NDI®, so the same page works in a grading suite.
  • Scripts — the Web Control API switches layout, assigns a source to a slot, saves a still and serves a preview stream.

Vector needs a license key, and the store offers a 10 Day Free Trial. Until you enter a key the window opens on a 1x1 layout Vector does not ship, so the header shows Layout: 1x1 and the grid shows Layout ‘1x1’ not found. Enter a key from Menu → Help → Manage License to make the four layouts selectable, and a licensed run with no session to restore starts on Colorist.

Getting a License has the details.
