Main Interface

Vector is one window. The menu bar runs across the top, the Sources Palette is under it, and the layout fills the rest.

The title bar shows Fetch Media Tools | Vector. Vector opens maximised and stays hidden until the first frame is ready.

Five menus run along the top: File, Sources, Layout, View and Help.

A failed layout import is the only message the window shows. It is amber, centred in the menu bar, and gone after six seconds.

  • Preferences (Cmd/Ctrl+P)
  • Layout Designer (Cmd/Ctrl+L) — opens a second Vector window. See Layout Designer.
  • Layout Designer panel — edits the page on screen.
  • Import Third-Party Layout…
  • Install Stream Deck Plugin
  • Quit (Cmd/Ctrl+Q)
  • Refresh Sources and Clear All Sources.
  • The discovery method in force: mDNS or Discovery Server.
  • Blackmagic Inputs ({n}) — Rescan. DeckLink capture is included.
  • One row per feed, shown as {name} ({url}). Click one to put it on a slot. The rows grey out while all five slots are full, and No NDI® sources found takes their place when discovery finds nothing.
  • Discovery Server Config opens the NDI® Discovery Server Configuration window.
  • The four shipped layouts: Colorist (6 viewers), DIT (6 viewers), QC (11 viewers) and Broadcast (7 viewers). A leading asterisk marks the one you are on.
  • The number counts tiles, not feeds.
  • Your own layouts follow under Custom Layouts:, then Manage Custom Layouts.

To the right of the menus, the header shows the layout as Layout: {name}, and a yellow Product not licensed when the license check fails.

The Sources Palette is a resizable strip between the menu bar and the layout. It is 150 pt tall at rest, with a 72 pt minimum, and open on a first run.

It shows the layout as Layout “{name}” - {n} slots, then one cell per slot.

Press Cmd/Ctrl+K, use the View menu entry, or drag the grip at its edge to show or hide it. Working with Sources covers the cells.

Scope Properties is a floating window. Open it from the View menu or a right-click on a scope tile, and close it with a click away or the Escape key.

With nothing selected it shows Select a scope tile to edit its properties. or Scope controls are unavailable.

The Type row lists all 29 scope kinds.

A picker above it shows the slot as Slot {number} — {name}.

Menu → View → Fullscreen hides the menu bar and the header, and the layout fills the display.

They come back while the pointer is over the strip the bar last occupied, and stay for ten seconds after you leave it.

On Preferences ▸ Display, Overlay is the default, which gives the picture the most room. Choose Framed when a caption would hide something you need to read.

Show viewer info bar turns each tile’s header bar on or off.
